church yesterday

As I sat in church yesterday we sang the song "Because He Lives", I remembered back to when I competed in Pre-Teen Louisiana Scholarship Pageant almost 11 years ago. My talent was performing the sign language to this song. I remember when I was learning to sign this song that the Columbine shooting was fresh on everyones mind and also the bomb threats at DSHS. I was in elementary school and was afraid of what if something like that happened at the high school or a bomb did go off. My elementary school was so close to the high school in proximity that we would have had damage too. My mom told me to listen to the words of the song that I was learning to sign and take them to heart. So here they are:

God sent His son, they called Him, Jesus;

He came to love, heal and forgive;

He lived and died to buy my pardon,

An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives!

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,

Because He lives, all fear is gone;

Because I know He holds the future,

And life is worth the living,

Just because He lives!

How sweet to hold a newborn baby,

And feel the pride and joy he gives;

But greater still the calm assurance:

This child can face uncertain days because He Lives!

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,

Because He lives, all fear is gone;

Because I know He holds the future,

And life is worth the living,

Just because He lives!

And then one day, I'll cross the river,

I'll fight life's final war with pain;

And then, as death gives way to vict'ry,

I'll see the lights of glory and I'll know He lives!

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,

Because He lives, all fear is gone;

Because I know He holds the future,

And life is worth the living,

Just because He lives!
